Why have policies for e-safety?
Policies define the terms and conditions governing the behaviour and safety of those involved with the school community when using technology.
Developing an e-safety policy
Members of the school may be working online, at home or in an internet cafe. They may have personal devices not covered by network protection and therefore the emphasis should be on getting everyone to understand the risks and act accordingly.
Developing an Acceptable Use Policy (AUP)
An AUP addresses all rights, privileges and responsibilities associated with the use of technology. A well drafted AUP will set out the type of behaviour expected from each member of the school community and define the sanctions that may result if misused.
