E-Safety Awareness Alert – ‘Blue Whale Challenge’

The ICT Service would like teachers and parents to remain vigilant in ensuring online safety for children, especially with the approach of the Summers Holidays.

We have been made aware of a social media risk targeting 10-14 year olds, who are persuaded to take on ‘challenges’ leading to self-harm and real cyber dangers.  The ‘Blue Whale Challenge’, has originated in Russia but is possibly reaching further globally.

We advise that parents are made aware of the potential risk and more specific information can be found on this website.
